Just In: Court Orders NCC, Telecoms Firms To Pay N500 Million To APC

A Federal High Court in Lagos presided Justice Ibrahim Bubahas has on Tuesday 24th March  ordered the Nigerian Communications Commission and Etisalat, MTN Nigeria Limited, Globacom Limited, Airtel Nigeria Limited, Visafone Communications Limited to pay the All Progressives Congress N500 million for unlawfully shutting down the party’s presidential campaign fund raising platform.
The order was given in response to APC’s originating summons on the shutting down of its fund raising platform by the NCC. Buba said the APC’s position was protected by the constitution with regard to pushing for its fundamental rights once violated.

The APC took the NCC to court sometime in January this year after the commission shut down its fund-raising platform despite giving approval to the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation in to raise funds using same platform.
