Top 20 sexiest athletes in the world

source

Michelle Jenneke — Track
I can talk about the infamous video that made Michelle Jenneke a star all day but I won’t because she really is an athlete who is trying to excel at her sport. Michelle has been training for hurdling events since she was ten years old. She was able to get a first place victory in 2010 for the one-hundred meter hurdles at the Australian Junior Championships. Michelle then won Austrailia’s first medal at the Singapore Youth Olympic Games by winning second place in the one-hundred meter hurdles event. Michelle would continue to excel at the one-hundred meter hurdles event as she finished in fifth place at the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships. While she hasn’t said anything about it, it’s safe to assume that we will see her a lot more in the future. She will also probably end up in some more viral videos is well. Not that that’s important or anything.
Alex Morgan — Soccer
Alex Morgan started playing soccer when she was fourteen years old and was named an NSCAA All-American while in high school. Morgan would then go to college at the University of California and be the leading scorer for the California Bears. Alex then became the youngest player on the 2011 U.S. team in the FIFA World Cup. She would help the team win second place in the competition. Morgan would also play an important part for the U.S. team at the 2012 Summer Olympics by scoring the game winning goal against Canada. This allowed the USA to play and win against Japan for the gold medal.
Antonija Misura — Basketball
Antonija Misura fell in love with the game of basketball due in part to her desire to follow in her older sister’s footsteps. Her impressive abilities on the court led to her helping her team when the Croatian Cup in 2008. Antonija then went on to lead Croatia to a bronze medal victory in the 2009 Mediterranean Games. On the not so athletic side of things, she has been crowned the Miss Mediterranean Games in 2009 due to her striking looks. Even professional NBA player Nate Robinson tweeted that she may be one of the most beautiful basketball player ever. As of right now, Misura is flattered by the attention but has decided to focus on her game instead of taking numerous modeling contracts
Marta Menegatti — Volleyball
Marta Menegatti started playing volleyball when she was nine years old after trying out both swimming and dancing. Her professional debut was at Barcelona in 2009 along with Greta Cicolari. They finished in thirteenth place. Marta then went on to the 2012 Summer Olympics with Greta and made it to the quarter-finals. The duo were then beaten by Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh of the United States. As of right now, Marta is playing with a new teammate named Victoria Orsi
Sania Mirza — Tennis
Sania Mirza began playing tennis at six years old while being trained by her father. Her professional career stated with a bang when she won the 2003 Wimbledon Championships Girls’ Doubles title while partnered with Alisa Kleybanova. Her successful season in 2005 then led to her being named the WTA Newcomer of the Year. Sania Mirza was then able to break the Top 30 barrier in 2007 but was held back by wrist injuries and had to bow out of several matches in 2008. As of 2013, Sania won the doubles title at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships while partnered with Bethanie Mattek-Sands. Sania has been plagued by criticism from extremely conservative religious groups for the short tennis clothes that she wears while playing the game but has not stopped playing as of 2014
Alexandra Saitova — Curling
Yeah, I’ve already written about her before but this is a top 20 sexy female athletes list right? Anyway, Alexandra still keeps a low profile on the internet and it’s almost impossible to find any information about her. Saitova is good at curling though and was able to win a gold medal at the 2013 Winter Universiade in Trentino, Italy. She would then go on to earn ninth place while representing the Russian women’s curling team at the 2013 Sochi Olympics
Skylar Diggins — Basketball
Skylar Diggins was a Gatorade Indiana Girls Basketball Player of the Year winner before attending Notre Dame University to play on their basketball team. She would gain the attention of U.S. audiences when she helped her team earn an appearance at their second championship game in history. Unfortunately, Notre Dame was unable to defeat Texas A&M in the finals but her basketball career was still reaching new heights. Skylar would win the Big East player of the year award in 2012 and have the most steals in a single season in the history of the women’s basketball program for the Fighting Irish. As of 2013, Skylar was drafted third overall by the Tulsa Shock in the WNBA.
Maria Sharapova — Tennis
Maria Sharapova‘s dad emigrated with his daughter from Russia to America and washed dishes in order to pay for her tennis lessons until the International Management Group (IMG) funded her tuition to go to a tennis academy when she was nine years old. This investment paid off early when Maria became the youngest woman to reach the final of the Australian Open Junior Championship when she was 14. Sharapova would then go on to defeat Serena Williams to win the 2004 Wimbledon Championships. Many would say that Sharapova’s best asset is her determination to succeed in spite of many setbacks in her tennis career due to shoulder injuries. This toughness has led to Sharapova being a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations since 2007
Hope Solo — Soccer
Hope Solo has one of the coolest names on the planet. She also happens to be a fantastic goalie and is very photogenic as well. Hope would earn her first professional shutout in 2003 when she was a goalkeeper for the Philadelphia Charge against the Atlanta Beat. Solo would then play on European teams for two years before becoming more infamous by criticizing the decisions of the coach of the U.S. National team in 2007. Her time with the 2008 Summer Olympic team was less controversial and the U.S. won a gold medal with the help of her skills as a goalie to shutout the Brazilian team in the championship match.
Malia Jones — Surfing
Malia Jones moved to Hawaii when she was an infant and started surfing there when she was a teenager. She won the girls division of the United States Amateur Surfing Championship at 15. As she got older, Surfing Magazine noticed her beauty and Malia became a swimsuit model as well. She has since gone on to star in numerous commercials for companies such as American Express and Coca-Cole along with appearances on various “Hottest Female Athletes” lists such as this one. She was even a consultant for Disney’s Lilo & Stitch which is pretty funny.
Silje Norendal — Snowboarding
Silje Norendal hails from Norway, a country that can be very useful if you like snowboarding as much as she does. Silje is mostly known for her incredible abilities at the slopestyle event. She won a gold medal at the 2014 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado before finishing in fourth place at the 2014 Sochi Olympics
Gina Carano — MMA Gina Carano was a professional Muay Thai fighter before being offered to compete in the MMA’s first sanctioned female fight in Nevada against Leiticia Pestova in 2006. Her quick victory was a sign of her upcoming legendary career and her ability to pave the way for mainstream acceptance of women fighting in MMA. Gina would go on to win seven more matches until she suffered her first defeat against Cristiane Justino in 2009. Carano wouldn’t be eligible to fight due to medical reasons until 2011 but her match was cancelled for unknown reasons. Gina hasn’t fought since and has gone on to be an actress instead
Danica Patrick — Motor Racing
Most people don’t realize that Danica Patrick technically began her career in England and not the United States. She would win second place in the Britian’s Formula Ford Festival, which was the highest ranking for an American at the time before being a driver in the IndyCar series for six years. Danica would drive for a team owned by Michael Andretti, the famous IndyCar driver, and earn numerous places at the podium (top 3) but never earn first place victory. She would then move on to the NASCAR circuit and earn numerous top ten positions but still no first place victories as of 2014.
Anna Rawson — Golf
Anna Rawson was a professional model before starting her golfing career in 1999. Anna won a lot of amateur competitions that year including the Jack Newton International Junior Classic tournament. These wins lead her to being a member of the Australian National Squad that year, before officially turning professional in 2004. Anna would just barely miss making the cut at the 2004 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament but would finish third in the Ladies European Tour of 2005. She would then go on to get a spot in the Top 10 in the LPGA in 2008.
Biljana Golic — Table Tennis
Biljana Golic is a Serbian table tennis player who began playing the game when she was nine years old. She joined the Serbian National Cadet team when she was twelve years old and played in the Serbian national system for a decade. That was when Texas Wesleyan University and Killerspin, a table tennis equipment company, joined forces to sponsor her as an athlete in the United States in 2003. She became the U.S. National Collegiate Champion in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories. Biljana has been a force to be reckoned with in the table tennis scene ever since.

Kelly Cartwright — Track and Field
Some of you may not realize this, but women who have prosthetic legs can be sexy too. Especially when that woman has an Australian accent. Kelly Cartwright was afflicted with a rare form of cancer called synovial sarcoma when she was teenager. This cancer formed around the joints of her right leg and doctors were forced to amputate in order to save her life. Kelly didn’t let this traumatic event bring her down and became motivated to excel in Paralympic sports. Kelly first represented Australia in the 2008 Beijing Olympics by finishing in sixth place in the one-hundred meter dash. Kelly would improve significantly in the 2012 London Olympics by winning a gold medal in the women’s long jump event and a silver medal in the one-hundred meter dash. She is truly an inspirational story.

Hilary Knight — Ice Hockey]
Hilary started playing hockey when she was six years old and made it her profession when she played for the Wisconsin in 2007. Knight quickly grabbed the attention of both fans and U.S. Olympic officials and began representing the team in the 2010 Winter Olympics. She was the youngest member of the team at the time and has grown to be a leading figure in women’s hockey around the world.

Sandrine Gruda — Basketball
Sandrine Gruda developed her passion for basketball as she grew up in France while possibility eating lots and lots of baguettes. Terrible jokes aside, Sandrine began to play basketball on a professional level in 2005 for the French club Union Sportive Valenciennes Olympic and won the Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA’s) Youngest European Player of the Year Award in 2006. This award led to her being drafted by the Connecticut Suns in the WNBA in 2007. Her latest achievement was representing the French Olympic team in the 2012 London Olympics.

Soo Yeon Lee — Table Tennis
Soo Yeon Lee began training in table tennis when she was nine years old. This practice paid off early for her when she earned first place at the Korean National Junior Championship when she was twelve. Lee kept developing her unique playing style that focused on defense and spin variation in order to win U.S. Open Championship in 2007. Soo Yeon Lee is now considered to be the “face” of professional table tennis by most people who follow the sport. She currently models and plays promotional games for various companies such as Microsoft, McDonald’s, Nike and Red Bull. She’s even been featured on Keeping Up With The Kardashians as a table tennis coach. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not but it’s a popular show so there’s that I guess.
