Senator Uche Ekwunife Reveals Why She Dumped PDP For APC Ahead Of Rerun Election

Uche Ekwunife, the senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, announced on Friday that she had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ekwunife, who was inaugurated as senator in June, 2015, had her election nullified by Appeal Court in Enugu on Dec. 6, 2015, on grounds of irregularities. The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in the zone within 90 days.
She took to her Facebook page few hours ago to confirm her decamp.
The is to officially write and confirm to all my amiable and indefatigable supporters that I, Senator (Mrs.) Uche Ekwunife (IYOM) is now a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
This decision is important as we the Igbos need to have a strong representation in the National politics.
The nullification of my election by the Court of Appeal was based on the inconsistencies of Anambra State PDP Executive which is factionalised even though it is curious how all the other PDP candidates nominated under the same executive scaled through. The court also ruled that a fresh election be conducted in the Central Senatorial District and with the recent publication by PDP – (see Sun Newspaper, Thursday, January 7, 2016, page 36), suspending indefinitely the State congresses and primaries scheduled for the 9th of January, 2016. It is now clear that the party is not ready to produce any candidate for the forthcoming elections.
Infact, the news making round is that Anambra State Government gave the PDP State Executives huge sums of tax payers money not to conduct primaries.
By God’s grace I, Senator Uche Ekwunife(IYOM) is in the race and will run on the platform of APC. I urge all my loving and teeming supporters to brace up for another victory by coming out enmasse on the day of election and cast their votes for me.
Thank You and God bless.
[Senator Uche Ekwunife]
