Investigation revealed that unknown to the mother, she and her daughter, Mabel, were both having an affair with the same man. The mother reportedly started an affair with the man while her daughter, was away in Rivers State, observing her one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps scheme.
It was learnt that Mabel returned to Asaba recently for a short vacation and started an affair with her mother’s lover. The mother who got a whiff of her daughter’s illicit affair with her lover through a friend, later traced Mabel to his house.

Sensing that her mother was around, Mabel quickly sneaked into a neighbour’s room. The mother however dashed after her and descended on her with blows and slaps. She also smashed a bottle on the ground and stabbed her daughter and the lover boy several times, after she had bitten a chunk off the girl’s ear.
