Age long war: Miss Lebanon under fire after selfie with Miss Israel, claims it was photobombed

Miss Lebanon 2014, Saly Greigie has been criticised over a group selfie with Miss Israel, Doron Matalon, at the ongoing Miss Universe in Miami. The photo went viral after Doron posted it on her Instagram page on January 11. Due to the age long war between Lebanon and Israel, several calls were made in Lebanon for Saly Greigie to be stripped off her title for appearing in a photo with Matalon.

So, in a bid to save herself, Saly Greige, 25, explained on her Facebook page that Doron Matalon photobombed the group picture. According to her, she had been doing her best to avoid Matalon, adding that the photo was originally meant for Miss Japan, Miss Slovenia and herself, before Miss Israel butted in.

"Since the first day of my arrival to participate to Miss Universe, I was very cautious to avoid being in any photo or communication with Miss Israel (that tried several times to have a photo with me).
"I was having a photo with Miss Japan, Miss Slovenia and myself, suddenly Miss Israel jumped in, took a selfie, and put it on her social media."

In a swift response, Matalon said today,

"It doesn't surprise me, but it still makes me sad. Too bad you can not put the hostility out of the game," she wrote in English and Hebrew.
