Johnny Depp could potentially lose half his $400 million fortune in his divorce from wife Amber Heard, following reports the couple never had a pre-nuptial agreement.
The actress filed documents to legally end her 15 month marriage on Monday and with no prior agreement in place, it means the 52-year-old's estate has been left unprotected.
Under California law, spouses are entitled to half of the shared assets during a divorce if there is not an agreement in place before the nuptials,Mirror UK reports.
Johnny appears to be ready to do battle with the actress and has already hired top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to handle the case and has already rejected ex Amber Heard 's claim for spousal support.
Wasser is the hottest attorney in Hollywood, with previous clients including Kim Kardashian, Angelina Jolie, Maria Shriver and Ashton Kutcher.
Spousal support takes into consideration several factors including how long the marriage lasted and the needs of each partner
