Rihanna has just become the first black woman EVER to star in a Dior campaign.
The singer will follow the likes of Charlize Theron ( who has represented the J'adore fragrance line for 11 years, her commercials becoming insta-classics.) Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and Marion Cotillard as the face of the historic brand.
Launched in 1946, it’s surprising that the 69 year old fashion house took so long to use a black woman in a campaign. The 27 year old Bajan will be making history by taking her place in the Dior spotlight.
This opens Dior up to a world of possibilities for spreading diversity across the brand.
Rihanna will appear in the fourth episode of Dior’s “Secret Service” video series. The campaign is scheduled to run in Spring 2015. The film and print campaign features models walking around the lavish Palace of Versailles in stunning Dior gowns.
