14-year-old boy cleared of murder 70 years after being executed in South Carolina

Seventy years after South Carolina executed a 14-year-old boy so small he sat on a book in the electric chair, a circuit court judge threw out his murder conviction.

On Wednesday morning, Judge Carmen Mullins vacated the decision against George Stinney Jr., a black teen who was convicted of beating two young white girls to death in the small town of Alcolu in 1944.

Civil rights advocates have spent years trying to get the case reopened, arguing that Stinney's confession was coerced. At the time of his arrest, Stinney weighed just 95 pounds. Officials said Stinney had admitted beating the girls, 11 and 8 years old, with a railroad spike.

Zhang Wenliang, 70, spent nearly £2,000 on the original doll in August this year as a method of overcoming the grief of losing his wife to cancer.

But he suffered another form of bereavement when the doll starting coming apart from overuse.The retired doctor from Chongzhou City, in south-western China’s Sichuan Province, saw his story spread across the country earlier this year when pictures of him and his doll went viral.

Couple die having sex in car after leaving motor running

 

A pair of young lovers died while having sex in a car after leaving on the ignition and suffering carbon monoxide poisoning.

The couple, named as Artem S. and Anna D, were found naked in each other's arms inside Artem's Skoda at a lock-up garage hours after saying they were going for a walk.

Friends said the pair had taken to using the garage as a place for their romantic trysts.But police believe they made the deadly mistake of turning on the ignition to cope with sub-zero temperatures in Ufa, south-central Russia.
