Not less than 717 people were killed and 863 injured at the Hajj stampede in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
According to the Saudi Civil Defence Service, the stampede broke out during the symbolic stoning of the devil ritual.

Several Nigerians are believed to have been killed in the stampede, which occurred in Mina.

A journalist with the Voice of American, Nasir Adamu el-Hikaya, revealed to Thisday, that many of the Nigerian victims were from Lagos, Kastina and Borno states.

Governor Dickson Emerges PDP Flagbearer for Bayelsa Governorship Poll

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa on Thursday emerged candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the December 5 governorship elections in the state.

Mr. Dickson contested in the election as sole candidate following the disqualification of three candidates who purchased the expression of interest form and withdrawal of another aspirant. He scored 447 votes; 476 delegates were listed for the election, 452 people accredited, 24 absent while 5 votes were voided.

Announcing the primary election result, the chairman of the PDP Primary Panel, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state, said the conduct of the primary indicated that the PDP was ready to set good example for other parties.

Student Caught at Lagos Airport with 10.255kg of Drugs Hidden in Garri

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) today arrested a student and four other suspected drug traffickers with 10.255 kilogrammes of narcotics at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, (MMIA), Lagos.

Speaking on the arrest, NDLEA Airport Commander, Mr. Ahmadu Garba said that the suspects were apprehended for their involvement in smuggling drug hidden in garri adding that two of the drug
suspects were coming from Brazil with cocaine while three others were going to South Africa, Dubai and Pakistan when they were arrested.

Mr. Garba further gave the names of those apprehended as:

A man has been buried in his CAR in an unusual funeral ceremony .And the petrolhead was mourned by friends and family who gathered around as the vehicle was put into the ground.

According to Huffington post, the footage, which originated in China, is said to show the burial of a car owner who really loved his wheels.The hatchback was used in place of a coffin and a crane lifted it to move it to the right spot for burial.

the finish line ... a tribute to Usain Bolt, who also sent him a shout out. In fact, Miyazaki calls himself "Golden Bolt" -- and says he wants to challenge Usain to a race!

After setting the Guinness World Record, Miyazaki said, according to AFP, that his goal was 35 seconds.

The Nigerian Army have arrested a top Boko Haram Commander identified as Bulama Modu and 43 others.In a statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, the captured Boko Haram Kingpin, Modu, belonged to the Amir cadre of the deadly sect.
“Please recall that yesterday advancing troops along Banki axis made tremendous progress in which they cleared two Boko Haram terrorists’ camps at Jangurori and Bulatori villages.In addition to that, the troops have also arrested 43 suspected Boko Haram terrorists including one of the Boko Haram kingpins in the area, Bulama Modu, who is an ‘Amir’ of Bulakuri. The troops also rescued 241 women and children during the operation.
